About Typing Race

Typing Race measures how fast and how accurately you type. Pick a test length, start typing the passage, and your live WPM updates as you go.

Words per minute here uses the standard definition — five characters counts as one word — and accuracy is scored on correct keystrokes, so hammering the keys blindly will not help.

How to play

  1. Choose 15, 30 or 60 seconds.
  2. Start typing the passage — the timer begins on your first keystroke.
  3. Correct characters turn green, mistakes turn red.
  4. When the timer stops you get your WPM, raw WPM and accuracy.

Tips & strategy

  • Accuracy first. Correcting errors costs more time than typing slowly.
  • Keep your fingers on the home row and let your eyes stay on the text, not the keyboard.
  • 40 WPM is average, 65 is comfortably fast, 100+ is professional territory.

Typing Race — frequently asked questions

How is WPM calculated?

Total correct characters divided by five, scaled to a minute — the standard net WPM formula.

Does it work on a phone?

It runs, but a physical keyboard gives a far more meaningful result.
