About Junk Truck

Junk Truck is a physics driving game. You have a battered pickup with two wheels, a real rigid-body simulation underneath it, and twelve obstacle courses between you and the chequered flag.

The controls are almost nothing: right to drive, left to reverse. What makes it hard is that the moment your wheels leave the ground those same two keys become rotation, so every jump is a small problem in angular momentum. Land on your wheels and you carry on. Land on the cab and the attempt is over.

Courses add ramps, loose crates, seesaws and motorised spinning bars. None of it is scripted — the truck tumbles differently every single time.

How to play

  1. Drive right and reach the chequered flag.
  2. Hold right to accelerate. The truck will wheelie if you are heavy on the throttle.
  3. In mid-air, right rotates you backwards and left rotates you forwards — use small taps to line the wheels up for landing.
  4. Any part of the truck body touching the ground ends the attempt. Only the wheels may make contact.
  5. Twelve courses, and your cleared count is saved in your browser.

Right arrow or DDrive forward — tilt nose up in the air
Left arrow or AReverse — tilt nose down in the air
RRetry the course

Tips & strategy

  • Ease off the throttle before a ramp. Full speed into a jump nearly always means landing on the roof.
  • Correct your rotation early and gently. One long press in the air is almost never the right amount.
  • On seesaws, drive slowly to the pivot point and let the plank tip under you rather than charging it.
  • Spinning bars have a rhythm. Wait one full rotation at a safe distance and go through behind the bar, not in front of it.

Junk Truck — frequently asked questions

Is Junk Truck like Drive Mad?

It is an original game in the same physics-driving genre, running a real rigid-body simulation. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Drive Mad or its developers.

Why did I fail when I barely touched the ground?

Any contact between the truck body and the terrain counts, however light. Only the two wheels are allowed to touch.

How many courses are there?

Twelve, in rising difficulty. You can jump between them with the arrows in the toolbar.

What physics engine does it use?

Matter.js, an open-source 2D rigid-body engine released under the MIT licence.
