About 2048
2048 is a sliding tile puzzle where every move pushes the whole board in one direction. When two tiles with the same number collide they merge into their sum, and a fresh 2 or 4 drops into a random empty cell.
The goal is to build a tile worth 2048 — but most players keep going long after that. The real challenge is board management: one careless move fills the grid and ends the run.
How to play
- Press an arrow key to slide every tile as far as it will go in that direction.
- Two tiles showing the same number merge into one tile with double the value.
- A new 2 or 4 appears after each move that actually changed the board.
- Reach the 2048 tile to win — the game continues afterwards if you want a higher score.
- The run ends when the grid is full and no neighbouring tiles match.

Tips & strategy
- Pick one corner and never let your biggest tile leave it.
- Keep your largest row filled left-to-right so merges cascade.
- Avoid the up arrow entirely if you are anchoring the bottom-left corner.
- Plan two moves ahead before you break your wall — that is where most runs die.
