About this qr code generator

A QR code is just a way of writing a short piece of text so a camera can read it. Most of the time that text is a URL, but it can equally be a WiFi network, a phone number or a few lines of contact details.

This generator builds the code in your browser and never uploads what you type. That matters more than it sounds: many free QR sites generate a redirect through their own domain, so they can track every scan and switch off your code later if you stop paying. A code made here points straight at whatever you entered and will keep working forever.

How to use it

  1. Pick what you are encoding — a link, plain text, a WiFi network or a phone number.
  2. Fill in the fields. The code updates as you type.
  3. Adjust the size, colours and error-correction level if you need to.
  4. Download it as a PNG for screens or an SVG for print.

QR Code Generator — FAQ

Do these QR codes expire?

No. The code encodes your text directly, with no redirect through us, so there is nothing that can expire or be switched off. It will scan in ten years.

What is the error correction level?

How much of the code can be damaged or covered and still scan. L survives about 7%, M about 15%, Q about 25% and H about 30%. Higher levels make the pattern denser. Use H if you plan to put a logo in the middle or print on something that will get scuffed.

Can I use these commercially?

Yes. QR codes are an open standard with no licence fee, and codes you generate here are yours.

Why has my code stopped scanning?

Usually too much data at too small a size, or not enough contrast. Keep the foreground dark and the background light — inverted codes fail on many scanners.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The code is generated entirely in your browser.
