Play Connect Four Online
About Connect Four
Connect Four is played on a seven-column, six-row vertical grid. You drop a disc into a column and it falls to the lowest free slot.
First player to line up four of their own discs — horizontally, vertically or diagonally — wins. The computer opponent searches ahead several moves on Hard.
How to play
- Pick a difficulty or two-player mode.
- Click a column to drop your disc into the lowest empty cell.
- Connect four in a row in any direction to win.
- If the board fills with no line, the game is a draw.
Controls
| Click / tap a column | Drop a disc |
| 1-7 | Drop into that column |
| R | New game |
Tips & strategy
- The centre column is worth more than any other — it takes part in the most winning lines.
- Build threats that share a cell so blocking one creates the other.
- Count parity: on a full board, odd threats favour the first player and even threats the second.
Connect Four — frequently asked questions
How strong is the computer?
Hard uses a minimax search with alpha-beta pruning several plies deep — it will punish loose play.
Who moves first?
You do by default, and the starting player alternates after each finished game.
